Dear Sir and Madam,

since 2001 organized the „Telemann-Gesellschaft e.V” (Internationale Vereinigung) the International Telemann-Competition with the intention to put stronger into the memories the Georg Philipp Telemanns chamber music. Within a short amount of time it became well known internationally - in the last years it attracted 139 participants from 27 different countries.

The 5th International Telemann Competition invites applicants for historical woodwind instruments (recorder, baroque flute and baroque oboe) and will be held in three public rounds from March 7 to March 15, 2009. Musicians in the age of 18-34 can apply and will have to prepare compositions by Telemann and his contemporaries. Each participant is required to play either on a period instrument or on a replica of a period instrument.
